Livin' the Dream

Last time I promised pictures, so here are some of my little village!! ENJOY.

The picture above is my first host family's house.

This picture has a funny story attached to it. I mentioned in an earlier post that I watched Shrek in German. Well one of the words I picked up was donkey which is der Esel in German. At the time I thought to myself, "Jeeze, I'm trying to learn how to communicate in German and I learn the word donkey. When will I ever use this word, why couldn't I have learned something more useful!" Well as you can see in the picture there are two donkeys and when I saw them I was able to say, in German, this is a donkey. So from now on no word will ever be useless, I learned a pretty good lesson. I'm glad I learned it this early on.

This is icecream. Yes I know it looks like Spagheti, but I swear to you this is icecream. Isn't that SWEET. I had to take a picture, I didn't think anyone would believe me if I told them that I ate icecream that looked like spaghetti.

This is the sign for my little village. IT EXISTS. I don't care what Wikipedia says, it does and it is uber cute. =) 400 people! What a change from 80 000. I'm digging it though.

This is just outside of the village. It's a field of sunflowers. You are allowed to go and pick as many as you want and all you have to do is leave 50 cent in a tin. Isn't that cool!! So I am definetly going to do that in the next few days.

I took pictures on a great day! You can't usually see this much blue sky. This is a picture I took as I was just walking back into Oberellenbach. Pretty eh?

Wooden sculptors are really popular in this area. There are quite a few in Rotenburg, but there are also a few in Oberellenbach. These are a few in Oberellenbach.

This is very typical architecture in Germany. Most of the buildings and houses in the towns and villages look like this. It is gorgeous! Everytime I come to Europe I find that I fall in love all over again. I've fallen in love with the architecture, the scenery, everything. Reading is also like that for me. When you read a book, a good one, you can't help, but fall in love. (With something: the characters, the writing style, something like that.) I know I'm goofy, but that's why all of you love me. =)

I took a picture of the sky that day, because that's the bluest I've seen it since I got here. (That was the bluest part of the sky. There were other bits of sky around me that were all grey.) I took the picture, because I didn't want to forget what it looked like. Silly eh? Hahaha.

It is really great to see where you are living and your surroundings. It looks lovely indeed! Sounds like it is even smaller than Pincher Creek, but perhaps more creative in the building department. Enjoy the sunflowers! Guess they'd be a bit tough to send home to family and friends so we'll just enjoy the pictures
