Launched and Landed

Hey everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I arrived safe and sound in Germany. My flight went well, but I wasn't able to sleep. Believe me, I tried really hard! So I'm fighting to stay awake. I keep nodding off, so I am trying to keep myself occupied.

It is 4:15 pm here in Germany so I have at least 5 hours to go before I can sleep. The German keyboard isn't too different, but the y is in a different spot and it's throwing me off. Haha. I'm sure I'll get use to that soon enough. Not much to report thus far. Rotenburg an der Fulda is beautiful and so is the little village I am staying in just outside. It is soooo hot and humid here right now.

I will have good internet access here so I will write when I can. =)

Good news!

I just wanted to let you know that my departure will still go as planned. As far as we know, the strike shouldn't threaten my departure. I will let you know when I arrive safely.

Welcome to my blog!

My departure to Germany is in jeopardy! A German union may be going on strike at midnight tonight. We're not exactly sure what this means for my Air Lufthansa flight on Tuesday. I will keep you posted.

My last week has been utter craziness! Packing was ridiculously hard. There are so many restrictions! As it is, I'm definitely paying overweight baggage dues...and my bags are the maximum dimensions. This kind of sounds pathetic, but all of my bags together weigh more than I do. I am gone for a year though and taking a lot of Canadian gifts, pins, and flags, so that's how I'm justifying it. I've been told that Canadian Flags are HUGE... great gifts to give and receive. Europeans love maple leafs.

I've been saying a lot of farewells to friends this past month and I have a few more to come. The picture below was taken last night with a few good friends of mine. My parents and sister surprised me with this cake. It says Good travels Marita in German.
